Lapierre's wife, also named Dominique, takes an active part in her husband's humanitarian crusade. Here she holds a child from a poor district of Calcutta.

Dominique Conchon-Lapierre, wife and partner of Dominique Lapierre in his literary projects as well as his humanitarian crusade, was born in Farges, a small village of the center of France on August 4th, 1940.

After studying in Paris, she joined the French National Television Broadcasting network as producer. In 1966, she joined as chief assistant and researcher the literary partnership of Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins, authors of the bestselling book Is Paris Burning?. She collaborated on their following bestsellers ...Or I'll Dress You in Mourning, O Jerusalem, Freedom at Midnight, and The Fifth Horseman. She married Dominique Lapierre on April 5, 1980.

Today she is one of the driving forces behind City of Joy Aid. The organization's success depends on her to coordinate all its contacts among India, France, the U.S., Italy, England, and elsewhere. Dominique also solicits new donors, manages the organization's budget, and handles the extensive legal work associated with running an international non-profit organization.
